STRENGTHENING FARMER IDENTIFICATION SYSTEMS
The initiative is focused on strengthening data accuracy, improving farmer identification systems, and supporting evidence-based planning across the agricultural value chain for access to financing support by international development agencies and NIRSAL Plc.
A key focus of the project is the development of a more robust farmer identification framework. With verified and traceable data, stakeholders can better understand farmer demographics, production capacity, and geographic distribution, enabling more targeted interventions.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy to modernize agricultural data systems in Nigeria by improving the accuracy, traceability, and reliability of farmer records. Through Geo-tagging, each farmer’s location and farming activity can be digitally verified, reducing duplication and enhancing transparency within the agricultural value chain.
ENHANCING TRANSPARENCY AND EFFICIENCY
The Geo-tagging process improves transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency. It ensures that interventions reach the intended beneficiaries while minimising fraud, duplication, and mis-allocation of resources.
The project also supports evidence-based planning, enabling policymakers and financial institutions to make informed decisions using real-time, location-specific data. This is expected to significantly improve access to financing for smallholder farmers, who often face barriers due to lack of verifiable records.
